Ichi-go ichi-e: One encounter, one chance A concept originating from the tea-ceremony, meaning that each encounter or chance will just occur once in a life time. So, to get the best out of your encounter with the Japanese, why not prepare yourself by studying the Japanese language and culture? Or find yourself a good interpreter to say the right words for you at the right time and understand what you need to understand?
Since 1990, Renée Pompen teaches Japanese privately as well as at several language institutes, and translates and interprets on project basis. She received her education at Leiden University, Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto and Kyoto Institute of Culture and Language. Next to studying in Japan, she has been living and working in Japan for more than three years. To keep up with new developments in Japan, she travels to the country regularly.
